How will I know I'm improving?

At or before your first lesson you'll receive a 'Shropshire Learners' Lesson & Progress Record card.
 
As well as containing your lesson schedule it lists all the topics you'll be graded on and, against each topic, boxes which your instructor will mark to show what level you've achieved - from level 1 (New skill introduced) right through to 9 (Test standard).
 
When you're up to level 9 on all the graded topics you're ready to take your Driving Test!

Terms and Conditions

Please read below the terms and conditions of our School of Motoring (herein after called The School). These are based on the "Code of Practice for Approved Driving Instructors". It is important that each student read and understand them and where they have any question or concern, they ask for clarification. The school cannot accept responsibility for any misunderstanding arising from a students neglect in reading them.

  1. Appointment Card

    • The appointment card will be given before or at the first lesson.
      Students are advised to carry the card so that the next lesson may be entered.

  2. Driving Licence

    • Students must ensure that they are holders of a valid and signed current Driving Licence. This must be produced at the first lesson.
    • Students must inform their Instructor if they receive any endorsements during the time they are receiving tuition.
    • Students must advise their Instructor of any disabilities or any prescribed medication which may affect their ability to drive.

  3. Well Being

    • In the interest of safety and comfort, Students are strongly advised to wear only suitable footwear and clothing which do not restrict any movement; please consult your instructor who will be happy to advise you.

  4. Postponement of a lesson by the school

    • If by reason of a vehicle failure or other emergency, a lesson ahs to be postponed at short notice, an alternative lesson shall be made with mutual consent. In the case of a Driving Test, The School shall be responsible to the Student for the Fee of the next Test. Pupils must appreciate that it may not always be possible to notify a cancellation if breakdown occurs on the way to a lesson.
    • Driving Tests shall take priority over lessons. Therefore, a lesson booked may on occasion have to be cancelled or postponed if The School receives short notice of a Driving Test.
    • Except as in (a) above, The School wil wherever possible give notice of re-arrangement or postponement of a lesson within the same limit that The School imposes upon the Student postponing or cancelling a lesson.
    • If circumstances arise that a change of Instructor is necessary, the Student shall have the right to discontinue lessons with The School.

  5. Postponement of a lesson by the student

    • At least 24 hours notice of cancellation or postponement of a lesson is required.
      Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are chargeable.

  6. Postponement of a Test

    • We draw the attention of Students to the fact that a Statutory Period of Notice is required under Government Regulations for the postponement or cancellation of a Test. Please be advised that neither The School nor the Instructor can be held responsible for the loss of the Test Fee if the Student fails to notify the Test booking office. The address and telephone number of the booking office is given on the Test Appointment Document.
    • The School or the Instructor cannot be held responsible for any postponement or cancellation of a Test by a Testing Authority for whatever reason.
    • Students should note that where lessons or vehicle tuition are cancelled at short notice because of cancellation by the Testing Authority, fees remain payable. It may be possible to claim lost fees from the Testing Authority. Please ask your instructor's advice.

Payments

In the case of payment for individual lessons, payment for your lessons may be made to your instructor. Students are advised that if they regularly fall behind with their payments, The School reserves the right to cancel further lessons without notice. Students are advised that they may make a saving if they make a block booking of ten lessons. Please ask your instructor for details.
