CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (for prospective instructors)
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) has appointed two companies to obtain the checks on people wanting to join the driving instructor profession and those already registered as Approved Driving Instructors. DSA will use the information in the criminal record disclosure to help them decide if an applicant is suitable to be a driving instructor.
From 12 March anyone applying to become an instructor will need a criminal record disclosure. Those already on the DSA's Approved Driving Instructor Register will also be checked over the next two years.
